Going to EDC in Vegas? Better Consume Off Site

in Nevada, but you can’t spark up at the festival.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Metropolitan Police and EDC security officers will be out in full force during the three-day event and will not be giving out free passes to those who light up at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Larry Hadfield, the Metro Police spokesperson, told the Review-Journal that before entering security checkpoints, festival goers are encouraged to drop off illicit drugs or other contraband into an amnesty box right outside of the speedway—with no repercussions.

“They can turn it in, and it will be safely disposed of,” Hadfield said. “So they can make a good decision.”

Las Vegas has hosted the EDC since 2011. There are usually fewer than 100 arrests made over the three-day event, which attracts an estimated 135,0000 patrons.

Like most music festivals, there will be fire crews and ambulances on site. The EDC will have its own hospital within the compound should an emergency arise. Hadfield pointed out that heat is the main concern of safety officials. Temperatures are expected to reach 110 degrees during the event.
